I d never heard the fruitcake lady on Jay Leno s show, so Marie Rudisill was a new face to me The book tells of Marie s unconventional life growing up in the deep south, transition to NYC and her relationship with various family members, notably her nephew Truman Capote Now deceased, she had a pretty strong opinions on a wide variety of subjects and at her age was entitled to them To learn about a real life version of the cartoon, Maxine read this book.
